Receiving this award is a wonderful achievement for our entire school community and reflects the enthusiasm and dedication shown by our students in learning about the importance of protecting our oceans and marine life. Throughout the year, students engaged in a variety of activities that explored marine biodiversity and sustainable living.
Our school was honoured to welcome Minister for Education and Youth, Norma Foley, along with Dr. Rick Officer, the CEO of the Marine Institute, as we celebrated becoming Ocean Champions. Their visit recognised the hard work and enthusiasm shown by students and staff in developing projects that encourage a deeper understanding of Ireland’s marine environment and the importance of protecting it for future generations. The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements and to continue inspiring young people to become active guardians of our seas and coastline.
Well done to all our students on this fantastic achievement. Special thank you and well done to our 5th and 6th Class teacher, Ms Claire McSweeney, who was the main driving force behind this whole project.
