Aughacasla National School

Principal’s Message

On behalf of myself, the Board of Management and the staff of Aughacasla National School I’d like to welcome you and your child to our school website, which we hope reflects the friendly, caring, happy and secure learning environment which exists here in Aughacasla N.S. It is our honour to be entrusted with a child’s primary school education. Parents are a child’s first and continuing educators who we always look forward to working in partnership with so as to provide the best possible education for their child. We believe parent’s co-operation and support is of vital importance in enabling us to create a learning environment where every child enrolled here will encounter happiness, make friendships and will receive the necessary encouragement to help them to achieve their full potential. In everything we do it is our aim to develop the values of respect, knowledge and responsibility in our pupils’ education. We endeavour to encourage a strong sense of community in Aughacasla N.S. so that our pupils enjoy acceptance and a sense of belonging to their local community. Our Board of Management is very supportive and dedicated and we value the strong support we receive from our Parents’ Association in our school. We have a highly dedicated, hardworking and extremely competent staff, which provide a well-rounded education by striving to enable your child to achieve their full potential in every aspects of their time here in Aughacasla N.S.  We are extremely appreciative that you have entrusted your children to our care and we thank you for your continued cooperation and support. Aughacasla National School

Aughacasla National School is a rural primary school situated 15 miles west of Tralee town on the picturesque Dingle Peninsula, nestled between the mountains and Tralee Bay. We are a co-educational school catering for children from junior infant to sixth class. We have four classroom teachers, two support teachers and two special needs assistants. Positioned on the R560 the school dates back to 1896 and in 2000 we moved into our present school building located behind the old school.

What we are about

Aughacasla National School offers a broad and balanced curriculum as well as many extra-curricular activities including football, athletics, soccer, gymnastics, concerts and outings. We are a ‘Green School’ which provides children opportunities to learn about the environment around them. We offer a caring atmosphere in which each child’s contribution is valued and in which each child’s needs are acknowledged and met.
