Green Flag

Aughacasla National School is in the process of looking to receive their second Green Flag. Energy is the second theme that the school will undertake. This will look at the steps that can be taken to reduce energy consumption and raise awareness of climate change issues.

Green School Committee

The committee had their first Green Flag Committee meeting this week where they discussed different ways to save energy. Some of the ways they came up with reducing our energy consumption include:

• Turning off the white board and lights at break if the teacher is not in there.
• Turn off the photocopier when it is not being used.
• Turn off the bathroom, hall and classroom lights before going home.

Above is our Green School Committee who are working towards saving energy in Aughacasla National School. Keep up the great work guys.

We are all working very hard to remember to save as much energy as we possibly can. We must not forget to switch off everything when we are leaving the room/school. It is a habit that we will use in everyday life from now on. Even some of the teachers are starting to remember to turn off the lights!
