We had Martin Schaerer visit our school yesterday for a drumming workshop. Each 50 minute workshop gave the children (and teachers) a fun drumming experience and introduced them to an exciting world of rhythm. The younger children explored the basics of music making (pulse, tempo, dynamics, timbre and pitch (high and low), playfully learning to co-create, to listen, to give and take space and build up an understanding of the fundamentals of music. Meanwhile the older children learned more complex rhythms and rhythm arrangements. The children really enjoyed their day.
