On Friday 3rd – 6th Class went on a field trip exploring our local environment. Aine Brosnan from heritage in schools brought the children to local  heritage sites. First they saw a local ring fort near glentanassigh, next they visited the Maharees where they saw a Standing Stone or Gallán where local folklore believes priests are buried under it. Finally, they visited the old ruins of a church in Kilshannig which was founded by St. Seanach, a parish church in the 14th century. We’d like to thank local landowners for allowing us to pass through their land. Big thanks to Áine Brosnan for leading the field trip.

Áine also spoke to Junior Infants to 2nd class about some local myths and legends.

Have a look at some pictures from the trip on our Gallery Page.
